ABOUT XANTHOS
Xanthos (Lycian: Arñna; Greek: Ξάνθος) was the capital city of ancient Lycia, located at the site of present-day Kınık in Antalya Province, Turkey. The ruins sit on the south slopes of a hill above the left bank of the Xanthos River. The center of Lycian civilization, Xanthos exerted significant architectural influence on other cities of the region — its Nereid Monument directly inspired the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus in Caria. Xanthos was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with Letoon in 1988.
