ABOUT ALINDA
Alinda (Ancient Greek: Ἄλινδα) was an inland city and bishopric in ancient Caria, Asia Minor. Situated on a commanding hilltop above the modern town of Karpuzlu, Aydın Province, it was here that the exiled Carian Queen Ada held court — and greeted Alexander the Great in 334 BC, who in turn granted her rule over all of Caria. The site features a nearly intact marketplace, a 5,000-seat Roman amphitheater, a Roman aqueduct, a necropolis, and the remains of numerous temples.
