ABOUT TRIPOLIS

Tripolis on the Meander (Greek: Τρίπολις) was an ancient city on the borders of Phrygia, Caria, and Lydia, situated on the northern bank of the upper Maeander River. Its ruins lie near Yenicekent in the Buldan district of Denizli Province — the very same region where Carettalia's peshtemals are woven today. The site includes a theater, baths, city walls, a necropolis, and an early Christian church dating back 1,500 years, unearthed in 2013.
