ABOUT TRALLES
Tralles (Latin) or Tralleis (Ancient Greek: Τράλλεις) was one of the largest Aegean cities in antiquity, located where modern Aydın now stands. The city's cotton was so prized in international trade that it traveled under names like "Güzelhisar," "Joselassar," and even "Joseph Lasat" in European commerce. Centuries later, Anthemius of Tralles — born here — became the chief architect of the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople.
