ABOUT KIBYRA

Kibyra (also known as Cibyra Magna) is an ancient Greek city and archaeological site in south-west Turkey, near the modern town of Gölhisar in Burdur Province. It was the chief city of the district of Cibyratis. The ruins cover the brow of a hill 300–400 feet above the plain and include a remarkably well-preserved theatre with a diameter of 266 feet, whose seats command a panoramic view of the Cibyratic plain and surrounding mountains. Several large buildings near the theatre are believed to have been temples of the Doric and Corinthian orders.
