ABOUT APOLLONIA
Apollonia (Ancient Greek: Ἀπολλωνία) was a city in ancient Lycia whose ruins lie near Kiliçli (Sıçak), a small village in the Kaş district of Antalya Province, Turkey. Though unmentioned by any ancient author, its Lycian origins are attested by pillar tombs in the necropolis dating to around 500 BC. In Roman times the city was part of a local federation (sympoliteia) with Simena, Isinda, and Aperlae. A Byzantine church on site suggests continuous occupation into the 6th or 7th century AD.
